We Plan Our Work & Work Our Plan
Written by Carl Foisy
The idea of planning ahead is not a new concept. At Marketing by the C, we go about a ‘prior proper planning prevents poor performance’ way of doing marketing and work for those who hire us. Measure twice, cut once, and use the hindsight and experience we’ve gathered along the way to put forth quality and effective marketing programs….thats what we do.
This way of handling business is very helpful on all levels. From running social media campaigns and email marketing, to building new websites or launching content marketing plans, or even organizing media buys and advertising campaigns. When we move with intention, the results are always stronger.
There is a big difference in results between those who ’shoot from the hip’ vs those who ‘aim carefully at targets’. Shooting from the hip tends to require more ammo to hit any given target, while planning ahead and aiming steady allows for more direct hits with less ammo, and preventing poor performances.
Being in the digital age we have great ways to track and measure real results. During our planning stages we focus on goals, and create clear indicators or actions to help us figure out if ‘working our plan’ is actually successful or not (and this goes for off-line advertising too like radio, tv and print). Fortunately since we plan ahead, there’s always a ‘fall-back’ or ideas for refinements that can be quickly implemented when we do not receive the results we aim to hit.
In all cases, we plan our work before we work our plan, and so far it’s proven to be an effective and sustainable way to help local businesses thrive.
