Sounds Like Trouble

Sounds Like Trouble

When we share on social media, or produce videos and websites for locally owned businesses, we use authorized audio. Copyright laws are legit and the improper use of such material can cause unwanted trouble for many people, starting with the business owner.
When audio is used improperly, and eventually caught, the business owner will most likely receive a legal letter with demands. Depending on the severity and reasonability levels in any given case of copyright infringement, these issues have a trickledown effect on many people involved with the business. The owner, the person who used the unlicensed audio, and the employees of the business are all affected negatively when this happens….some more than others. But when legal documents surface because of neglected laws, it’s never a good thing.
It’s important to share this pro tip, to reiterate what many non-marketing people do not take into consideration. When individuals share on their personal social media pages, they can do this as they please, but once we’re speaking as a business, the rules we follow as individuals do not apply, and businesses have access to limited approved copyright free audio. Using copyright free audio, or audio we’ve purchased or created, is a very simple rule to follow considering the benefits include avoiding legal problems.
Here at Marketing by the C we’ve understood this for decades. We have audio provider subscriptions, purchase audio files for marketing/commercial use, and we also create our own audio to ensure 100% uniqueness, giving us the absolute intellectual property rights. We at MbtC are always looking out for the businesses and businesses owners that we work with, including which audio to use….because it’s more than just a social media post or promo video….it’s safe and smart business practices, contributing positively towards a business’ reputation.
